Stock Market Strategies

Filed under: School of Investors — admin at 9:17 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Decide and Have a Strategy

The strategies will depend on if you are a day trader or an investor. The strategies for day traders will not work for an investor and the other way round. Therefore you have to decide if you are going to be a day trader or the investor. Remember that day trading is a full time job and you get married to the trade. Investing is not a full time job but you can make similar money as a day trader makes.

Strategies for Day Traders

The day trader is there to make money for him/her. The strategy for each one is to maximize the income. In this the day trader has two tools Wiz technical analysis and arbitrage. Speed of working and attention to details are the stock in trade for the trader. Since not everyone can become a day trader, we will leave the strategies for each one to be developed separately and will not go further than this.

Strategies for Investors

There can be a number of strategies for investors. Before you go ahead and adopt a strategy or a combination of strategies, it is necessary to follow a strict code of working. The code may not be written but, but it is based on common sense and it is in your interest if you are an investor.

1. Study the market before investing: It is your own hard earned money. You should not be reckless with your investment. Therefore study the market before you investment. Find out if the market trend is up or down.

2. Study the market segment: It is necessary to study market in which your company operates before you purchase the shares of a company. Find out everything you can about the company.

3. Timing of purchase: The share of good company expecting increase in quarterly half yearly or annual results, go up before the actual announcement of results. If you are not sure about the purchasing, avoid purchasing the shares at this time.

4. Rumors about the company: You should avoid buying on the basis of rumors about company. You should also avoid buying on the basis of unconfirmed company reports and tips.

Having done your basics, now you can go for determining the strategy of purchase of company shares.

1. Buy low and sell high: This is the best strategy and everyone will tell you to adopt it. In practice however, a newcomer will find difficult to adopt this in practice. Over a period of time you will be able to fine tune your skills and adopt this strategy.

2. Buy and Hold: This works for nearly all the new entrants in the stock markets. When choosing a company to invest, choose carefully and after a thorough study of the company and the market in which this company operates. However the exit strategies also have to be fixed in advance to ensure that you are not left holding the baby after every one has the profit from company shares. Some options can be

• Exit after your returns from this share are fulfilled in a certain period. The money you have received can be invested in another company promising a higher rate of return.

• Exit to limit your losses. In case the market is falling down, have a predetermined limit below which you are not going to hold the shares of company. This is called stop loss limit and has to be followed rigorously.

3. Buy and Change Frequently: If you have studied the markets carefully, you might find that that there is a limit on the expected gains from shares of a company. If you really have reached this limit, you can exit out of this stock and choose another.

Choose a combination of strategies that suits you the most.

Family Law

Filed under: House Of Relationships — admin at 3:47 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2008

A frustrating lack of permanence plagues modern relationships. Approximately one of every two marriages ends in divorce and the average length of a marriage before divorce is only five years. Many couples today chose cohabitation over traditional marriage. What happened to the idealized family depicted in Father Knows Best, Leave it To Beaver, The Donna Reed Show and Ozzie and Harriet?

No simple answer exists to this question: our intimate relationships have been affected by the industrialization of society, urbanization, continued changes in the traditional roles of the sexes and greater economic independence for women, a rise in the percentage of the population pursuing a college education, a lessening of social pressure against couples who cohabit, the recognition of legal rights for llegitimate children, a decreasing birth rate, improved birth control methods and a longer life expectancy. All these factors contribute to our alarming divorce rate.

Is it any wonder the state ( literally, the state you live in and as, generically, any form of government) must pass laws that affect our personal relationships as we struggle for answers?

You can take opposing views of the laws in our country. One argument is that they protect society and its members, but the flip side contends they are a means of oppression. The laws that impact our intimate relationships are not necessarily harmful or intrusive in and of themselves. However, forming a relationship without a working knowledge of these laws and without considering all the ramifications can lead to situations where the end result is both.

The state’s role in romantic relationships has often been justified by “public policy” interests. The term “public policy,” though vague, is used to justify laws or actions that would injure the public welfare or be contrary to public decency, sound policy and good morals.

Understanding the necessity of laws that impact on our personal relationships starts with the recognition that our society is not the first to regulate love and the law. The efforts of governments throughout history to control the couplings of its citizens illustrates why and how our own laws were created and why and how, inevitably, they will adapt as society changes.

The one form of marriage permitted under our laws is the only option for couples who want a legal relationship. Happily, the single status is only a temporary situation for most Americans. Few will stop looking for love, trust, companionship and sexual and emotional fulfillment with another person. However, couples wanting to remarry, parents with ready-made families, couples over 65 looking for companionship without legal complications, all seek answers from the same legal relationship.

Although divorce laws have undergone radical changes in our lifetimes, the marriage laws have remained relatively static. Unfortunately, because couples considering marriage have many different needs, it is not uncommon for the laws that govern marriage to conflict with these needs. Too often, couples learn too late that financial penalties come attached to the marriage license. Marriage may be the only means of forming a legal and financial relationship under the law but, for many, legal marriage simply implies that they must suffer penalties to legalize their relationship.

As traditional marriage has proven less and less capable of living up to its potential in our society, alternatives such as unmarried cohabitation have arisen. The increase in couples who choose to cohabit can be traced to the fact that the marriage laws are not meeting the needs of these citizens in forming their personal relationships. Although there are a variety of reasons why couples choose to “just live together,” financial disadvantages are a major factor.

If you are previously married and considering a remarriage, you know that the older bride or groom has different needs than the young couple entering a first marriage. The responsibilities and obligations from prior marriages, particularly when children are involved, cannot be ignored. Men and women over fifty who have minor children fight the same uphill battle as younger couples do in defining and fulfilling their obligations of visitation, custody, support, and inheritance. These problems create stress for the old family, as well as the new, upon remarriage.

Even without children, it is possible that obligations to former spouses can impact a new marriage. Older couples must consider the potential loss of private pensions, alimony, social security benefits or tax advantages because of a remarriage. Also important is the issue of inheritance of assets that may have taken a lifetime to accumulate. Older couples may want to limit their financial obligations to each other in the areas of support, medical costs, insurance, and pension benefits.

If you are a refugee from the marital wars, you learned the hard way about precautions that could have been taken the first time and should be taken the next. The happily married couple doesn’t need to learn from experience; they, too, can benefit from the information in this book. If you are one of the lucky couples who has beat the odds and stayed married, we want to show you how to continue to protect and preserve your relationship…and your money. Check out loveandthelaw.com to discover what you need to know about your relationship.

Top Tips for Good Nutrition This Thanksgiving

Filed under: Best Food — admin at 12:23 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2008

To many, good nutrition and thanksgiving dinner seem to cancel each other out. However it should be possible and even easy to make a nutritious meal that is a pleasure to share with friends and family. Here are a few tips to help you make your holiday meals healthy ones too.

Prepare a wide variety of foods. Traditional thanksgiving stories tell us of meals that contained wide varieties of dishes reflecting the backgrounds of the many people who came together for these meals and to give thanks. The nutritional benefit of eating from a wide variety of foods is you gain a wider variety of nutrients. Also, you are less likely to overload on a single type of food. If you don’t have time to prepare a large number of dishes, many grocery stores sell prepared dishes that you can add to the variety of dishes you’re cooking yourself. Gourmet grocery stores often prepare these dishes on site.

Try some simple recipes. Instead of making the obligatory green bean casserole with mushroom soup and fried onions, how about a simple green bean dish with a dash of sea salt? Substitute yams, cooked in butter with marshmallows and brown sugar, with a more simple preparation of yams. You may be surprised at how much people enjoy the taste of the original ingredients.

Be careful of portion sizes. An ideal meal is derived from all of the food groups and should include a wide variety of individual foods. Instead of loading up your plate with mashed potatoes, start with smaller portions of everything that has been prepared. If you would like a second helping, follow the same procedure. By eating from a wider variety of foods you will be providing your body with a more complex array of nutrients and you’ll be able to enjoy the many flavors as well.

Pace yourself. Unless you’re on call for surgery, you probably have a little time. Instead of jumping right into your second helping, consider a short intermission and burn some calories by helping out with the dishes. By eating more slowly, your body will give you signals when you are full. If there are leftovers you can always eat them later.

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all of the things that we have. It is a time for us to remember and reflect on the things that are important in our lives that we so often take for granted. The sharing of a meal with friends and family is a wonderful event and is cherished by nearly all cultures. So take pleasure in the eating and the sharing of food but also consider the nourishment that food gives you and be thankful and give honor to the abundance which you have to share.

Getting Back Links to your site Free

Filed under: Better Search Engine Optimization — admin at 4:33 pm on Monday, April 28, 2008

Get Free Links To Your Site Instantly

As many of you know, getting links that point to your site is a
must for search engine optimization. Search engines such as
Google use backlinks to measure the value of your page. The
higher value your page is, the higher your search engine
standings. Search engines use this as a tool to eliminate the
spam pages out of their index. Because they think no one will
link to a spammy page and thus the link to the page must be
authentic. If your site has been online for some time, it will
usually have some natural links pointing to it. What I mean by
this is someone saw your site fit and placed a linik to it from
their webpage. However, most webmasters will frown on the idea
of linking to a page without some sort of link back.

Getting Links

You could find sites online, then email the webmaster and ask
them to link back to your site. Providing you will place a link
to their site also. However this is a long and tedious process,
and your response rate will usually linger around 5% or so.
There are even places that will email webmasters for you and
such. I’ve never tried it that way. I always considered it a
sort of spam. However I’m sure there are legitimate providers
that will handle the service professionally.

Automating
The Process

Getting your link to show up on pages can be automated. Thats
right, all you need to do is sign up for this service and place
their code on your webpage. Then you link will show up on their
thousands of partner sites. The links are non-intrusive and can
be CSS styled to match your page. The service I’m speaking of is
Digi
tal Point Ad Network. You are assigned a weight for the
links you display and your link will show up on partner sites.
And the best part is that its free! All you need to do is sign
up and place the linking code on your pages. The more ads you
display on your page, the more weight you will recieve. Find out
more by visiting Digi
tal Point.

Cooking with Wild Game - Black Pepper and Juniper Venison Sauce

Filed under: Best Food — admin at 3:57 pm on Monday, April 28, 2008

When cooking meats of any kind, there is no sauce like a sauce made from the meat trimmings and bones of the animal itself. Here’s one suggestion for a great venison sauce; use it with any roast or pan-roasted venison, such as leg, rack or loin - the black pepper and juniper lends itself well to the caramelized flavor of the roasted meat.

Yield: 1 cup

cup canola oil

2 lbs. venison bones, chopped into 1″ pieces (or, 2 lbs bones, pound meat trimmings)

1 quarts water

1 quarts light chicken stock

2 quarts veal demi-glace (best: make it yourself; more than gourmet’s ready made is not bad)

lbs. carrots, cut into ” pieces

lbs. onions, ”

5 ounces celery, cut into ”

3 peppercorns, crushed

2 juniper berries, crushed

Heat canola oil over high heat in a heavy pan large enough to hold bones in one layer, until just before smoking. Add bones and cook until well-browned and caramelized - do not turn before a good crust develops, and once turning, do not stir bones. You want a good, deep, rich caramelizing layer. The last few minutes, add the meat trimming, if you are using it. You want a good russet color to the bones, not black - watch for this and discard any blackened bones. Pour off fat from pan.

Add a little of your water, enough to deglaze the pan, reserving the rest for later. Using a wooden (ideally, flat) spoon, scrape the bones free and scrape up and loosen any browned bits. In my kitchen, I use to tell my chefs the pan should look, on the bottom, as if it had been washed. Add a little more water and allow to work - listen for the crackle to die down to a gentle bubbling, then, as the water evaporates, the gelatin will extract from the bones and it will begin to crackle again. Add cups of the light chicken stock and deglaze/reglaze as before. Add vegetables and stir to deglaze/reglaze. Add remaining water, chicken stock, and veal stock. Deglaze fully and transfer to stock pot.

Bring to a simmer over medium heat, with pot offset to one side to set up a convection for skimming - throughout the process, you don’t want to allow accumulated scum and impurities to be reincorporated into the sauce, so skim the surface regularly. Skim and simmer for 30-45 minutes or until stock is at level of bones. If you have a fine mesh sieve, first strain the sauce through a coarse strainer then through the fine mesh sieve. If not, a coarse sieve with a layer of cheesecloth will do. The important thing is to strain with the coarse strainer first, then pass through the fine strainer. Pour strained stock into pot. Simmer until reduced to sauce consistency. Last ten minutes of reduction, add your crushed peppercorns and juniper berries, and reduce to 1 cups. Double strain again and serve.

Hunting can bring good food to the table. As a chef, I always sought to marry what I knew with what hunters and farmers always knew - the best food comes from the season and the land one knows. I hope you enjoy this recipe.

How to Walk Fido and Talk at the Same Time

Filed under: Pet Care — admin at 3:05 pm on Monday, April 28, 2008

I don’t mean talking like “good boy” or “go potty” but the body language
that lets your dog know you are in charge.

Most of the behavior problems owners encounter
are the result of owners letting their dogs take control.

This doesn’t mean being a tyrant or using a formal “heel” process; it just
means being the leader of the pack.

Walking is one activity almost all of us do with our dogs, and one that can
reinforce our position as alpha dogs.

What do owners doi wrong?

Poor posture. People slouch, bend to look down at their dogs, fight with
the leash and generally look stressed out or impatient.

What should owners be doing?

Attach a leash to a body harness rather than a collar for walks.

Louise Louis doesn’t like collars for walks because there’s too much danger
of injuring a Toy breed’s neck by pulling on the collar when walking.

She also doesn’t like retractable leashes as they are too long to
maintain control and keep a dog safe on city streets. Some
cities are prohibiting them for the same reasons.

Her recommendation is a leather leash of 4 to 6-feet for city walks.

The leash handle or loop should be slipped over your left wrist.
This provides more control and decreases the chance that the
leash might slip from your hand.

Position the leash itself across the fingers of your right hand
so you can shorten or lengthen it as necessary.

Position your hands in front of you, just below your waist.

The majority of the leash should be between your right
hand and your dog. You only need about six-inches of leash
between your right and left hands.

Keep your head up and maintain a positive posture.

Unlike many trainers who believe a dog should not be
allowed to sniff, roll, and amble at everything they pass, Louise
Louis believes dogs should be allowed to act like a dog.

As long as he obeys your commands when you give them (come, sit,
leave it), she says to cut him some slack!

The only exception is for male dogs that are constantly lifting
their legs on everything in their path. Don’t continually
stop for this.

You need to train your dog to relieve himself at the start
of the walk. His leg lifting has more to do with his trying
to mark his territory than to relieve this bladder.

If you remember nothing else from this, please keep in mind
the words of the late, great Barbara Woodhouse: head high,
hands low.

Need Mortgage? Alternative Finance Often Masks Predators, Who Want to Steal Your House

Filed under: The Real Estate Brokers Way — admin at 12:33 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2008

So, your bank had just turned you down for a mortgage application. The same thing also happened, when you went to other banks in your area. How can those banking people be so blind? Don’t they see that you are a hard working person? That you intend to repay them every penny?

That blemish on your credit report was a mistake. A greedy landlord reported you as a no-pay to the credit bureau, when all you were trying to do was to collect the money for repairs, which the owner himself should have done in a first place. You should probably have taken him to a court, but who has time or money for lawyers?

Anyway, in today’s rising real estate market your new home should pay for itself in a very short time. Especially with the improvements you intend to do yourself. All you need is someone to lend you a mortgage, otherwise other buyers will snap this terrific opportunity.

You will prove to those bankers that they don’t understand a thing about you. If they will not give you the money, there are always alternative lenders. They advertise themselves as helping people, who had been turned down by the banks. They don’t care about credit reports. True, they charge higher interest, but they give you a chance to own property, and chance is everything you need.

Be careful, most of the alternative lenders are not in a charity business. The banks usually sell your mortgage on the secondary market to investment funds. They do it on the strength of your credit report. That is the reason they are so inflexible on this subject.

What will those alternative lenders do? Where they get the money to lend you? Some of them are predators. You might discover that they are in dire need to turn a quick profit of their own, since they themselves had borrowed the money. You might discover it sooner than you had anticipated.

First clue for future surprises might come at the closing. They suddenly hit you with a lot of additional costs. After all, they say, you are a bad credit risk, so we have to work harder for you. So what, you say, the banks can hit you with additional costs just as well.

Yes, but this time you already had agreed to pay higher interest rate together with a larger down payment. That already overstretched your financial resources to the limit, and those unexpected closing costs may just pull you over the brink. You have no more money left.

The lenders are unexpectedly nice about this matter. In exchange for some more contracts for you to sign, they provide you with an additional bridge loan. What you don’t realize at this moment - you might find yourself in a technical default even before you start your payments. And the pressure to pay already starts to build up.

Never mind, you say. The raising value of the house will pay for everything. All you need is to complete those repairs and put it back on the market. “Those lenders are not stupid”, - you say: “They should understand that as soon as I sell my house, I will be able to pay everything back. The market will continue to move up. The house will increase in price. I will have the profits.”

Has it ever occurred to you that your lenders might have similar plans about your house, only they see themselves as entitled to the profits from its sale? Remember those additional contracts you were forced to sign at the closing? They stated that if you miss even one payment, the whole balance of the loan becomes outstanding and due.

What does all that mean? That means that they are demanding the money that they know you don’t have. They also hit you with additional interest charges and attorney’s costs. As the costs are mounting daily, they offer you to assign your house to them. They say: “It will be easier for you if we will sell the house and refund to you your share later”.

If you still have a choice at this stage, realize that accepting this offer will be the worst mistake you can make. If they sell the house, they can present you with a list of “selling” expenses, over which you have no control. You might discover extensive “advertising” payments and “agents” commissions, which ate all your profits.

Be careful, when you decide to turn to alternative lenders. The banking industry is heavily regulated by law. Alternative lenders are not regulated at all. Some of them are decent people. However, the loan sharks, which are preying on people in need like you, too often present themselves as “alternative lenders”.

Housetraining Tips for Your Dog or Puppy

Filed under: Pet Care — admin at 11:23 am on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Puppies need to go to the bathroom after they play, chew, drink, eat or sleep. Start by putting them on a leash and tethering them to you. That way you can be aware of them when they start sniffing the ground (usually a cue the puppy needs to go potty). Pick them up and carry them outside. When they go potty, tell them “good potty” and give a cookie as a reward. Do not let your puppy off leash until they have finished going so they get into the habit of going potty, then playing. Many puppies will want to go outside just to play if you let them off leash first.

What if my puppy has an accident?

He will. Do not punish your puppy though. If you catch your puppy in the act then clap your hands or pick them up - this will make your puppy stop going. Get him outside FAST and let him finish up out there. Reward him for going outside. Clean up the mess with natures miracle which will remove the odor completely.

Do NOT rub their nose in it, swat them with a newspaper, or isolate your puppy. It will only teach them to not go in front of you.

If your puppy is going frequently in the house you are probably not supervising them enough. Watch and learn their cues. If you feel you are watching and your puppy isn’t getting it you can always have them checked for a Urinary tract infection.

If your puppy piddles when you greet them, this could be submissive urination. This would be a problem that is usually cured by ignoring the behavior and letting your puppy calm down before touching them when you first see them.

This article not only applies to puppies, but it is how you should train a dog of any age. If you can’t supervise your dog, please put them in a crate to help curb accidents. Remember, dogs go where they go most!

This can be a trying time, so have patience and you will get through it.

Training and older dog

Training an older dog can actually be more difficult because the behavior has been learned. The best advice I can offer is to treat them like a puppy. Start from square one. Keep the dog on a strict schedule and reward heavily for pottying outside. If they have an accident, clean it up appropriately and make sure you don’t punish the dog. Afterall they haven’t clearly learned not to go in the house. Always ask yourself if you missed some cues.

You can try hanging a bell on the door and teach the dog to ring the bell. Hold it just in front of their nose, and let them out when the bell rings. Beware of dogs wanting to just go out to be out instead of going to the bathroom.
